Wednesday February 14, Jeron and Molly will be available at Mapleton High School to provide assistance with filing taxes after school until at least 7:30 pm. They are not tax professionals, but they can help walk you through one of the online options. They will mainly be using www.freetaxusa.com which is one of the IRS authorized free file providers. Anyone can file their federal return with this site for FREE, and if your adjusted gross income is less than $45,000 then you can file a free state return, otherwise it is $14.99 to file the state return. They will be in the computer lab right near the gym, so stop in and say hi and get some assistance if you would like, they’ll even bring cookies.
Items to bring:
- Tax documents (W2s, 1099s, deduction items if you itemize (health insurance costs, mortgage information, charitable donations))
- State issued ID or driver’s license
- Social Security information for you and any dependents you claim
- Tax return information from last year if available
