Last night the Oregon Department of Education issued updated guidance to schools. They are requiring a shift from short-term supplemental learning to ‘distance learning’ that will be more substantive, graded and potentially credit-bearing education for all students.

It will take a few days for our District to review the new guidance and work through the logistics of how to meet the needs of all Mapleton students. The state is requiring distance learning plans to be in place by April 13th.
The supplemental education opportunities provided this week and next are now more important than ever. These items are the bridge to moving forward with distance learning.
We all acknowledge that these circumstances are not ideal, but in a short time and with a bit of thoughtful planning, the district will move forward to meet the needs of all students so that they may reach their greatest potential. Stay tuned for more information. Thank you for your patience as we navigate these unchartered waters!
