Senior Spotlight: Jacob Burchell

Jacob has been a student in the Mapleton School District for nine years and has been an important member of the Class of 2026. This year, Jacob served as a Camp Lane counselor and participated in numerous activities that benefited the Mapleton community. In athletics, he lettered in football, basketball, and track and field.

His favorite class has been the Gardening PBL because it is very active and allowed him to learn more about plants. At MHS, Jacob’s favorite teachers have been Tucker Ford and Lou Burruss because he enjoys their classes and looks up to them as mentors.

Jacob has too many favorite Mapleton memories to choose just one, but many of them involve spending time with his friends. One funny memory involved Engineering class, music, and a six-foot tube of sand. In Jacob’s words, “If you know, you know.”

Jacob’s advice to his peers is: “Don’t procrastinate. Do your work on time so you don’t have to worry about it.”

In the fall, Jacob plans to attend Oregon Institute of Technology, where he will study in the Pre-Dental program with the goal of becoming a dentist.

Jacob, thank you for your grit and your “never give up” attitude. Your willingness to always help others is appreciated and will be greatly missed at MHS. Good luck in all of your future endeavors!
