Averie Walker

Ms. Averie Walker has attended Mapleton since kindergarten. During her time at Mapleton, she has excelled academically and remained highly active in extracurricular activities.

Averie has lettered in volleyball, basketball, and track and field. She has received several athletic awards and earned First Team All-League honors in basketball this year. She also served as an Outdoor School counselor and was a member of the 2026 Senior Rhododendron Court.

Averie completed over 500 hours of community service during high school. One of her favorite service projects was creating a youth volleyball camp for students in grades 3–8.

Her favorite classes included Financial Algebra, English Language Arts, Community Wellness, and any class taught by her brother, Tucker Ford. Averie especially appreciates Coach Vanessa for always holding her accountable and helping her stay on track in multiple aspects of life.

In Averie’s words, her “love for Coach Vanessa goes beyond basketball.” Likewise, she admires her brother as both a coach and teacher because he demonstrates how much he cares for each student and for the Mapleton community.

Averie’s favorite memories include bus rides with teammates and team dinners—especially the one where Coach burned the garlic bread! One of her funniest memories was when she and Jostin dressed up as grandmas for an entire week simply because they felt like it.

Averie’s advice to her peers is: “Don’t be so quick to count down your last days because before you know it, everything you do will be your last, and you’ll realize everything you took for granted and will never get back.”

Averie plans to become a nurse. This fall, she will attend Linn-Benton Community College to earn her Associate Degree in Nursing before eventually completing her nursing degree through Oregon Institute of Technology.

Thank you, Averie, for your outstanding achievements, community service, and the fine example you have set for your peers. We will miss your compassionate nature and your positive, optimistic outlook on life.
